I was first introduced to photography when I was about 15 years old, by a colleague, with whom I worked. He was a very enthusiastic amateur. I have been involved with it, on and off, for 70 years, so you must realise that I am now rather old, but still very keen about it. Also, I am now a bit disabled as well, so can’t move about as much as I used to. Because of this, these days I tend to do a fair amount of still life photography at home, which does not involve too much activity. I am especially fond of taking still life photographs of flowers.
When I am able to get about, or if someone volunteers to transport me, I like to photograph old churches, etc, both inside and outside.
During my working life with Wales Gas, I started doing Wedding Photography, as a part-time job, and continued to do it for about 30 years. I enjoyed every minute of it (if it wasn’t raining).
I started off with black and white, and I did all of my own processing. Then, later on, it all changed to colour, and we had to send our work to Colour Laboratories for processing.
Over the years I have been a member of various photographic societies and clubs, and exhibited work with them. I have, and still do, supply some work to picture libraries for use in publications etc.
As well as being privileged to be a member of Disability Arts Cymru, who do so much for disabled artists in Wales, I am also a member of the Disabled Photographers Society, who cater for disabled photographers throughout the UK.
