I feel that art is not only seen, but is a felt experience, as does my greatest influence Howard Hodgkin. This is the realm I choose to work in; aiming to represent or re-create a moment, an emotion using oil paint as a dialogue.
The soul is deeply complex, which is the reason I choose not to title work in a sense that would give a guide to each derived source. I feel this would throw the viewer into an intellectual process, even worse confine each piece to boundaries.
I hope to evoke a response based on emotion not intellect, for each viewer to be moved on any level. If I can create a space for this and paint a moment; I am achieving my goal as an Abstract Expressionist. Though like all artists, I shall strive continuously for the perfect piece.
