2006: Connect & Create
A series of events which enabled us to bring new disability-led art forms and established artists to Wales from England, Australia and the United States. Connect and Create provided opportunities for disabled artists to get together, try out new things and start to get a sense of a disability arts network in Wales.
The Connect and Create days took place in:-
- Llandrindod Wells - The Pavillion. Film animation workshop led by workshop leaders from the Oska Bright Film Festival (a Learning Disabled-led film company). Drama workshop led by Julie McNamara, comedian and performance artist. And in the evening: The Oska Bright Film festival.
- Swansea - Dylan Thomas Centre. Improvisation workshop led by actor Mat Fraser, and Creative Writing workshop led by writer Lois Keith.
- Cardiff - Chapter Arts Centre. Improvisation workshop led by actor Mat Fraser, and Creative Writing workshop led by writer Lois Keith. Participants later had the opportunity to see Mat Fraser's show "Thalidomide, The Musical" at Chapter.
- Cardiff - The Glee Club. Deaf theatre workshop for BSL users led by Rob Roy Farmer, Deaf comedian from Australia. And in the evening: the Rob Roy Show - a one man Deaf theatre performance.
- Cardiff - Wales Millennium Centre - "One Big Day". Storytelling workshop by David Roche from US. Signed song workshop by Caroline Parker. And in the evening, David Roche's one man show "Church of 80% Sincerity" followed by Caroline Parker's one woman show "Signs of a Diva".
All events in Cardiff and Llandrindod Wells were funded by Arts Council of Wales Inclusion Through the Arts WEFO initiative. The Swansea events were funded by the D'Oyly Carte Foundation.
