Training
Disability Arts Cymru is the only organisation in Wales providing Disability Equality Training (DET) specifically for arts providers.
We have been leading DET in Wales since 1993. We now have a team of equality trainers, all of whom are disabled people and are involved in the arts themselves.
Organisations participating in Disability Equality Training will be able to:
- demonstrate recognition of their accountability to disabled people
- understand the implications of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), and it's relevance to arts provision in Wales
- devise an appropriate and realistic format for effective action planning
- work towards best practice in inclusion and accessibility
DET covers the following issues
- Physical and attitudinal barriers
- Language
- Disability Discrimination Act
- Disability Arts / Disabled Peoples Culture
- Reaching disabled audiences
- Working with disabled artists
